What We Believe
We believe in a system of government that is not strictly politically based, without the anchor of a monarch, where under political parties we will never be one people; always divided by our politics and partisan ideals. A sovereign placed in a constitutional monarchy weaves the fibres of our society together, in a politically neutral atmosphere, thus providing the fabric which has become our nation. We are one people under our monarch regardless of colour, gender, religion and party affiliation. As one people we honour and respect those institutions that have shaped our history, but together we are equal under the crown, sharing one history, one people, one nation, one future, and most of all one monarch. Our civically neutral duty to our nation is to be informed and educated about our government, its workings, its components, and its atmosphere; to never be complacent like we as a nation have become. Complacency has lead to the weakening of the very institutions that we as a nation identify with and have depended on to see us through the good and bad times we have endured.
Now is the time to re-energise ourselves, to revisit our roots, and learn again what it is that is so special about us as a government, as a people, and as a nation. Now is the time to stand up, realise, and admit that our monarch is the one who exemplifies who we are as a people, what we believe in, and what we feel. Our monarch is the personification of the states, an example for us all to follow. By continuously educating our population of the importance and relevance of our monarchy in today’s society, it is the hope of the British Monarchist League that we will be able to preserve and protect our institution of Monarchy from further decay, for future generations of Britons to enjoy, understand, and be proud of. For centuries the outside world has looked up to Britain as a model of government and society. Other countries have fashioned their governments and courts after ours, retained our monarch as their Head of State, fashioned their cities and infrastructures using us as a model, and have even retained English as their official languages when they had others to choose from. We have influenced the globe and have been known to never have the sun set on our empire. We stood alone in our darkest days, banded together to fight a common enemy, and turned to our sovereign to lift our spirits and light our lives. As time has passed, we are identified with Big Ben, red phone boxes, and black taxis, along with other notable landmarks, but none as important or colourful as our monarchy. Other countries may have monarchies, but none quite as colourful, precise, and historic as their British counterpart.
We may be a country recognised in a more modern way by our long rainy days, our chic fashion, international sound, theatre and great cinema, but we are still the country that nods to our past by demanding a tea break, and breathing monarchy. We are the land of fish and chips, Shakespeare, football, history, tradition, and royalty, where the best show in town has and will always be presented by Buckingham Palace. Our Monarchy is ever so unique, just like the hundreds of other symbolic features of our nation and our people; the only difference is that our Monarchy is a living breathing symbol of the history, power, and might of our great nation. Join the British Monarchist League today and rediscover what it is to have pride in being uniquely British.
